Digital Tools in the ReBuilt Project

1. Digital Tools in the ReBuilt Project

The ReBuilt project introduces an integrated digital ecosystem that supports the transition toward circular construction in Europe. The construction sector accounts for approximately 40% of energy use, 36% of CO₂ emissions, and over 35% of total waste in the EU. ReBuilt addresses these challenges by digitalizing the entire lifecycle of construction materials—from demolition and waste recovery to certified reuse.

At the core of the initiative is the ReBuilt Digital Portal, developed by Infordata. The platform enables:

  • End-to-end material traceability
  • Creation and management of Digital Product Passports (DPPs)
  • Secure and trusted data exchange via Gaia-X
  • Automatic publication of certified materials on the CinderOSS marketplace
  • Integration with BIM systems and recycling workflows

The platform is built on a scalable, service-oriented architecture with web and mobile applications, API-first interoperability, role-based access control, and full GDPR compliance.

By combining traceability, regulatory compliance, and market integration, ReBuilt transforms construction waste into valuable secondary raw materials while preparing stakeholders for upcoming EU circular economy regulations.

2. Digital Product Passport (DPP)/h4>

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a central digital tool within the ReBuilt ecosystem. It ensures full transparency and traceability of construction materials across their lifecycle.

Each DPP contains structured information such as:

  • Material composition
  • Recyclability
  • Carbon footprint
  • Technical and performance characteristics

The passport uses standardized data schemas (JSON-LD) and is interoperable with BIM systems. It is also connected to the Gaia-X federated infrastructure, ensuring trusted cross-border data exchange and data sovereignty.

Starting in 2027, Digital Product Passports will become mandatory under EU legislation. The ReBuilt platform already enables machine-readable and QR-accessible passports, secure signing and sharing of DPPs, and compliance with upcoming EU EcoDesign requirements.

3. Digital Marketplace – CinderOSS

The CinderOSS marketplace, developed by Opencontent, is a digital platform for publishing, discovering, and trading secondary raw materials and circular construction products.

Within the ReBuilt ecosystem:

  • Products certified with Digital Product Passports are automatically published to the marketplace
  • Buyers, recyclers, investors, and public authorities can access verified product data
  • Secondary raw materials become visible, traceable, and tradable

CinderOSS connects digital traceability with real economic value. By linking DPP-certified products to a transparent marketplace, it enables efficient trade of secondary raw materials, increased market transparency, trust-based transactions, and practical implementation of circular economy principles.
